ROCHESTER — When the City Council meets Tuesday night, it is set to consider a change to the city’s job description for the fire chief.
The city administration has been searching for a new fire chief since the retirement of Mark Klose last year. Perry Plummer has been filling in as interim chief.
The City Council will be asked to amend its general ordinances in regards to the residency requirement for the fire chief position, according to City Manager Blaine Cox.
“The ordinances require the fire chief to live in the city,” Cox said. “The only other position here with that requirement is for the city manager. But that position can be waived by a vote of the council.”
