On Display
The new displays are all up on our Main Floor! Check out these book, DVD and music displays next time you’re in:

Beach Reads
Maybe one of the most popular displays we do all year! We have a huge selection of books for you to read at the beach, at your camp, by the pool, or just at home sitting out on your deck or in front of a fan! Save on gas and airfare as you let these authors take you away to beach houses, tropical resorts, and private islands! Located on the two bookshelves opposite the Main Desk.

June Brides
We have a variety of fiction to keep you engaged, funny brides, bachelor party participants, bridesmaids, and wedding guests all make up these selections! Located at the table near the audiobooks.

Cooking With Fire
It’s June and it’s officially time to fire up the grill and start cooking! These books will give you great ideas on new recipes for main courses and sides for one, two, or a whole gang! Located next to the main desk.

Dad Rock
Music CDs to celebrate your Dad on Father’s Day or any time! Our curated collection includes Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bruce Springsteen, Seve Miller, Tom Petty, and lots more!

Our Flower Gardens
Many patrons have commented on our beautiful flower gardens! The plants and flowers were purchased with money from the friends and planted by a staff member who volunteered her time to come in early and plant, weed and water our gardens!

Lighthouse Program
Join us for the “New England Lighthouses and the People Who Kept Them” program on Tuesday, June 21st, at 3:00 p.m. in the Community Room.

Everyone knows that there’s “something about lighthouses” that gives them broad appeal, but their vital role in our history and culture is little appreciated. Our early nation was built on a maritime economy, and lighthouses were part of the system that made that possible. Due to automation, traditional lighthouse keeping is a way of life that has faded into the past. Jeremy D’Entremont tells the history of New England’s historic and picturesque lighthouses primarily focusing on the colorful and dramatic stories of lighthouse keepers and their families.  To register please visit the Main Desk or call (603)332-1428 ext. 2. Questions? Email Abby at Rplreference@rochesternh.net

Seashell Painting with Marina Forbes
Wednesday, June 29th, 5:00-7:30 p.m. in the Community Room

In this fun, hands-on workshop we will go into our creative imagination to the Atlantic Ocean to paint beautiful lighthouses and delightful landscapes, unique floral arrangements, and seascapes! Using a variety of painting techniques, brush strokes, and special effects, this workshop demonstrates step-by-step how to depict beautiful New England landmarks. Artists at all levels of painting experience are welcome. Artists will work with acrylic paints on specially prepared seashells. The goal is to produce authentic pieces of art on a unique surface of a seashell.  This program has limited space and registration is required.  Visit the Main Desk or call (603)332-1428 ext. 2 to sign up.

Adult Summer Reading Program
The Adult Summer Reading Program is an 18y+ free program that earns you tickets to be entered into a raffle.  The program begins on June 13th and will end on July 29th.  Participants must register on the Beanstack website or download the app.  The first 50 participants will receive an Oceans of Possibilities tote bag!   You can read anything and everything, just remember to log the minutes you spent reading to receive raffle tickets.  You can read to yourself or aloud to someone else or listen to an audiobook!  Your raffle tickets can go towards any of the six prizes that will be drawn on July 29th.  The prizes will be posted on the library website and social media on Monday, June 13th.  Good luck and happy reading!

Book Review
RPL Librarian, Amy, shares: “The Postman Always Brings Mice by Holm and Hamel. This re-discovered gem, which is the first in the Stink Files series, is sure to entertain your early reader!  A British spy cat by the name of James Edward Bristlefur ends up in Newark, NJ by mistake.  Narrated by Bristlefur, he makes the best of a tough situation by helping his new human, making friends, and trying his best to get back to the airport so he can travel to his originally intended destination, Norway.  The mystery continues in the next installments which we also have in the Children’s room.”

We will use Beanstack again this year for logging minutes read. Register on the website
rplnhreads.beanstack.org or download the Beanstack App on the Play or App Store.  Log what you read and be eligible to win prizes.  The program will run for 7 weeks, ending Friday, July 29.
