Public Library announces new Guessing Game, Summer Reading Programs, Beanstalk Logging, and more

“The Children’s Room is all-in for the Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Program! Stop by and enjoy the displays created by the super talented Children’s Room staff. And don’t forget to stop by the Main Desk for summer-themed surprises, the Teen Room decorated for undersea fun, and the Reference floor with an ocean-themed community puzzle!” – Edited by Stephanie Piro Nolan

Guessing Game
How many of you have enjoyed a beach day and brought home saltwater taffy to enjoy? Visit the library and you might not need to go to the beach. There is a guessing jar at the Main Desk where patrons can enter a guess of how many taffies are in the jar.  The first entry pulled that is the closest guess will win the taffies and the jar.  Entries will be pulled on the last day of the Summer Reading Program, July 29.

Golden Ticket
We have a special surprise for our Beach Book readers! Hidden inside some of the books is a Golden Ticket that will win the reader a free copy of The Heart of the Deal by Lindsay Macmillan.  We are giving away 11 of these books to the lucky patrons that happen to check out books with a Golden Ticket. And remember, beach reads are enjoyable even without a surprise inside!

Adult Summer Reading Program
Our Adult Summer Reading Program has begun and will end on July 29.  Participants must register on the Beanstack website or download the app. You can read anything and everything.  Just remember to log your minutes to receive raffle tickets.
The adult prizes are: a Kindle Fire, a Book Lover’s Package (with reading light, a coffee mug, and a book couch), a  Birdwatching Kit (with binoculars, bird book, bird watching journal),  a Beach Day package (with beach bag, a beach read, sunscreen, a towel, and a tumbler), one round of golf for two people at Nippo Lake, one round of golf for two people at the Rochester Country Club,  and an Airfryer (with airfryer cookbook). Read to yourself, aloud to someone else, or listen to an audiobook! You can also write a book review to earn some candy. Read at least 2 hours per week to win a small prize & one entry toward the end of the program raffle. Earn a *BONUS* raffle ticket for every 2 additional hours of reading. The more you read, the greater your chances of winning! Good luck and happy reading!

Children’s Room
The Children’s Room SRP is in full swing now so it’s time to start logging your reading! We also want to thank the East Rochester School reading team for organizing school-wide assemblies at each of the elementary schools, and encouraging the students to participate in the summer reading program. @HRCU & @RochesterNHRotary co-sponsored the events and gave books to all 1st & 2nd-grade students. Christina, Sergeant Benjamin & Officer Kimbrough @rochesternhpolicedepartment joined in on the fun at ERS!
