Sarah Prescott has been covering New Hampshire politics for over 15 years. Born and raised in Concord, she graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Political Science before earning her Master’s in Journalism from Boston University. Sarah began her career at the Concord Monitor before joining our team in 2012. Her deep understanding of the state’s political landscape and extensive network of sources have made her reporting on town meetings, state legislation, and local elections an invaluable resource for our readers. Sarah has received three New England Newspaper & Press Association awards for her investigative reporting on municipal corruption. When not chasing down leads, she enjoys hiking the White Mountains with her golden retriever, Maple, and volunteering with her local historical society. Jason Morales brings both journalistic skill and classroom experience to his education reporting. A former high school English teacher in Manchester, Jason made a career change to journalism in 2019 after completing Columbia Journalism School’s intensive program for professionals. His firsthand knowledge of educational challenges gives his reporting on school board decisions, education funding, and classroom innovations unique insight and credibility. Jason’s series “Learning in the Granite State,” which examined disparities in educational resources across New Hampshire communities, earned him recognition from the Education Writers Association. In addition to education, he covers community events, local arts, and profiles of notable residents. Jason speaks fluent Spanish and has worked to improve our coverage of New Hampshire’s growing Latino communities. He volunteers teaching adult literacy and enjoys hiking, playing guitar, and exploring New Hampshire’s craft breweries. Jason lives in Manchester with his wife and young son.

Marcus Chen joined our team in 2018 after three years as a science writer for New Hampshire Public Radio. A graduate of Dartmouth College with a degree in Environmental Science, Marcus combines scientific knowledge with compelling storytelling to cover the environmental challenges and triumphs across the Granite State. His ongoing series “Changing Tides,” which examines the effects of climate change on New Hampshire’s short but vital coastline, was recognized by the Society of Environmental Journalists in 2022. Originally from Seattle, he fell in love with New England during college and now considers himself a proud New Hampshirite. A Nashua native and UNH graduate, Diane spent ten years at the Boston Globe covering regional economics before returning to her home state to raise her family. Her specialty is connecting national economic trends to local impacts, making complex financial news accessible to everyday readers. Diane has developed a respected column, “Granite State Business,” featuring profiles of local entrepreneurs and analyzing economic development in New Hampshire’s diverse communities from the North Country to the Massachusetts border.
