ROCHESTER — Progress on the construction of the anticipated project to revamp the long-abandoned Hoffman building in the city’s downtown may be stalled for six months.
City planners will hear a request from the developers G&P Boston Properties of Charlestown, Massachusetts, to extend their deadline to meet precedent conditions of starting construction from June 6 to Dec. 6. The project received city Planning Board site plan approval on June 6, 2021.
The developer was granted tax incentives by the City Council to build 45 new residential units and commercial space, including a restaurant, at the long-vacant Hoffman building at 55 North Main St., where Hoffman Furniture closed in 1986.
